The shift during the last 60 years to a postindustrial society has had a profound effect on Art and its attendant modes of artistic labour. In particular, with the stampede in recent years towards a cult of artist micro-celebrity and the resulting saturation of gimmicky light entertainment Art, the question arises, "What is the future of artistic work ethic?"

During a series of short residencies each of the eight participants, in their own way will, by use of laborious repetition and 'simple' everyday processes, highlight this question. Further, through a use of mundane materials they will concurrently, as Polish writer and contemporary of Kafka, Bruno Schulz put it, in some way perhaps be seeking to conjure "The mythological ascension of the everyday".
